Helpmann Theatre

And the Helpmann theatre nominees are…

The Helpmann Awards Nominations for 2017 were announced on Monday night at Hamer Hall in Melbourne.

Since 2001 the Helpmann Awards, named in honour of famed Australian actor, choreographer, dancer, and theatre director Sir Robert Helpmann, have been awarded to recognise exceptional achievements in the disciplines of musical theatre, contemporary music, comedy, opera, classical music, theatre, dance and physical theatre.

Over the next two weeks, industry professionals, previous winners, and Live Performance Australia employees will be voting for their favourite nominees ahead of a fabulous awards ceremony at Sydney’s Capitol Theatre on 24th July.

“Over the past seventeen years, the Helpmann Awards have received over 10,000 entries and announced 2,600 Nominations, which further illustrates the scale of the live performance industry in Australia.  We are thrilled to be announcing on 24 July a further 42 winners to add to the existing 550 Helpmann Awards alumni,” said LPA chief executive Evelyn Richardson.
